More local talent wanted for Stafford Festival Shakespeare

Following the news last week that producers of Stafford Festival Shakespeare are looking for two youngsters to cast in this year's production of The Tempest at Stafford Castle, a number of other roles have also been made available for local female dancers.

Set against the elegant backdrop of the 1930s – the golden age of luxury cruise liners, Hollywood glamour and the dying days of vaudeville – SFS 2017 will transport audiences to the exotic shores of East Africa, to the Banjuni Isles off the coast of Somalia.

For the roles of 'Young Nymphs', SFS producers are looking to cast 6-8 females who are aged over 16 years old and have a mature appearance. The parts require good acting skills as well as a strong proficiency in tap and modern dance.

"This is another amazing opportunity for any talented local youngsters looking to gain experience working in the industry, and would look very impress on any up-and-coming performer's CV," commented Producer Derrick Gask.

"We had a fantastic response last week to our casting call for the part of young Caliban, and I anticipate this announcement being even more popular," concluded Gask.

In ordered to be considered for the part, individuals must be able to attend a number of rehearsals with Choreographer Verity Bray (dates TBC), as well as the technical and dress rehearsals (20 – 22 June), and all scheduled performances of The Tempest throughout June and July as detailed by the Company Manager. They would also need to arrive at the dressing room on site at Stafford Castle by the 'half' – 35-40 minutes before the beginning of the performance – and remain until the end of the show at approx. 10.30pm.

Auditions for the roles of Young Nymphs will be held on Sunday 9th April at Stafford Gatehouse Theatre from 10am – 1pm.
