Winner of the Great Shakespearean Bake-Off announced

Producers of Stafford Festival Shakespeare have announced the winner of the Great Shakespearean Bake-Off competition.

For this year’s production of The Tempest at Stafford Castle, caterers Sugnal Walled Garden have produced a one-off, specially crafted ‘Bard blended’ loaf. For the Bake-Off competition, entrants were asked to come up with their own Shakespearean-themed named for the loaf, with the prize of a ‘Picnic for Two’ to enjoy at this year’s festival.

The winning entry, ‘Loaf’s Labours Lost’, came from Stafford resident, Michelle Levitt:

“I am thrilled to be the winner of the Great Shakespearean Bake-Off. I have wanted to see Shakespeare at Stafford Castle for years but have never got round to it. This year I heard there was a Sunday afternoon performance and my children are now old enough to enjoy it so there's no excuse not to go – especially with a wonderful picnic to look forward to.”

The Tempest will open on Thursday 22nd June and run until Saturday 8th July 2017 at Stafford Castle. Established in 1991, Stafford Festival Shakespeare has fast become one of Europe's largest open air Shakespeare productions.

Tickets start at £13.50 and can be purchased from the box office on 01785 619080 or by visiting www.staffordfestivalshakespeare.com
